The course extends the knowledge of previous study. It describes energy budget of particular alternative energy sources (AES) in detail and explains the fundamentals of en energy conversion.

Solar energy - solar collector inner and outer energy balance, flat plate collector optimization; solar systems design and optimization. Geothermal energy utilization, heat pump (HP) - refrigerant cycle and HP components design, heat source with HP design and optimization. Low-potential source design and dynamic behavior. Biomass utilization - plant and animal. Gasification, pyrolysis, special accessories for biomass burning. Liquid bio-fuel and bio-gas production. Hydrogen economy, fuel cells, hydrogen production by AES. Economical, energetic and social aspects of AES utilization.
