Attributes and usage of composite materials. Stress-strain relations, the generalized Hooke´s law, symmetry of material quantities, stress and strain transformation equations. Ply stiffness. Stress and stiffness analysis of laminates under basic modes of loading. Micromechanics of composites. Strength and failure of composites. Fracture mechanics of composites. Fatigue of composite structures. Experimental stress and strain analysis of composite structures. Influence of structure itself, edge, hole and change of geometry, optimization of composition.
