Design, production and quality supervision of welded structures. Evaluation of defects and discontinuities of welded joints with non-destructive testing methods. Qualification of welders, welding operators and welding inspectors. Preparation of WPS and WPAR. Problems with safe practice at different welding methods. Influence of degradation processes on strength and life-time of welded structures.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Specialities of welded structures, elements of welded structures, types of welds and welded joints

2. Behaviour of materials of welded structures. Basic material of welded structures and its properties, influence of welding prosess on basic material

3. Technological strength of metals, defects and discontinuities in the welded joints, stress and deformation of welds, admission of defects in the welds

4. Non-destructive testing of welded joints, NDE methods of weld inspection, qualification of NDE workers

5. Quality of welded structures, tasks of welding supervision

6. Qualification of welders and welding inspectors

7. Welding procedure qualification, measurement and recording of welding process parameters

8. Welding equipments, welding fixtures, positioners, fume-exhaust devices, preheat, technical gases supply

9. Safe practice for arc, flame and thermal cutting of metals

10. Influences of welded joints on strength and life-time of structures

11. Influence of lower temperature and size of welded bodies on strength of structures

12. Influence of fatigue and corrosion on welded structures strength

13. Influence of high temperatures on functional characteristics of welded structures

14. Welded structures from light metal alloys
