Synopsis:

The course deals with the importance of protecting the environment and the effect of production engineering on the environment. Attention is focused on a methodology for assessing the impact of production processes and products themselves on the environment. Economic quantification of the damages caused by pollution and economic effectiveness of the environmental investments are calculated.

Requirements:

Presentation on a selected environmental issue, submission of solved problem tasks.

Study Objective:

The nature of ecology, ecosystems, component of human environment, environmental disasters. Use of natural resources and their threatening, exhaustibility of resources. Threatening of air and water. Threatening of soil, life nature, landscape. Extent of environmental problems, global, regional and local problems, synergy of negative effects to environment. Conditions of environmental care, responsibility for qualitative improvement of environment. Complexity of economic and environmental problem-solving. Environmentalism and engineering, development of engineering production systems with regard to environmental aspects. Rational use of waste in engineering, materials recycling, energetic recycling, use of other waste. Impact of engineering plants on environment. Analysis of gas and firm emission sources, liquid and firm waste in the engineering industry. Economic quantification of damages. Calculation of damages caused by air polluting, damages caused by release of waste into the water courses and damages caused by waste dumping. Calculation of environmental investments effectiveness.
