Basic stages of investing activities and designing. Methodology of power plant design. Basic economical principles (time value, discounting, reproduction, depreciation, cash flow calculation). Classification of profit and costs in power generation. Economical efficiency of design variants. Criteria for appreciation of economical efficiency (NPV, IRR, payback period) and application in the process of project assessment. Selection of optimal project variant, sensitivity and risk analysis. Base problems of power plant design (location, optimum capacity). Optimization of fossil fuel and nuclear power plants parameters. Environmental impact assessment (EIA) methodology. External costs of power generation.
