Welded joint composition (weld metal, heat affected zone), welding thermal cycle, temperature field. Weldability of steels (carbon equivalent, use of ARA diagram), types of cracks in welded joints and factors influencing cracks creation- carbon steels, low alloy, high alloy steels, fine-grained and thermo mechanically treated steels. Welding of nonferrous alloys. Heat treatment of welded joints. Basics of plastics welding. Automated welding processes and robotic welding. Special welding processes. Health and safety issues of welding.
