The course deals with the following items:

steel material, production, structures fabrication and

erection, steel properties, elements and connection design,

composite structures, thin walled structures, fire resistance,

corrosion protection.

1. Steel material, production; structures fabrication and erection.

2. Material properties; limit states.

3. Global structural analysis, cross section classification.

4. Stability of columns, critical length, Buld up members.

5. Beams, bending resistance; shear resistance.

6. Lateral torsional buckling; local buckling.

7. Beam columns, torsion..

8. Structural connections, welded connections.

9. Bolted connections.

10. Lattice structures.

11. Composite structures.

12. Thin walled structures.

13. Fire resistance, corrosion protection.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Study Objective:

To gain basic knowledge about steel properties and about design of steel structures. To transfer basic principals of design of steel cross sections subjected to different stresses and principles of design of welded and bolted connections.
