The subject gives brief and full overview about communication, this is transmission of information from source to sink of information. Introduces basic terms and principles of information transmission, services of telecommunications networks, quality of services, traffic engineering a dimensioning of connection elements of networks. Application of principles and methods is demonstrated on existing communication networks - ISDN, networks for data transmission, fixed and public land mobile networks.

2. Description of a source, transmission and switching element, types and basic characteristics of these elements
3. Technologies of transmission information and its error protection. Coding
4. Model of Open System Interconnection OSI, protocols.
5. Multiple utilisation of transmission medium and modulations
6. Transmission media and their utilisation. Transmission systems
7. Telephone switching systems - basic characteristics. Signaling
8. Traffic, communication systems and its traffic models, basic parameters
9. Services in communications systems and their classification
10. Existing networks and its deployment. Recommendations ITU-T
11. Evaluation of quality of services and network performance. Objectives. Prediction of deployment
12. Integrated services digital networks N-ISDN and B-ISDN. Intelligent networks
13. Data transmission networks. Data transmission by host network
14. Radiotelephone networks, paging
