Synopsis:

Students will obtain the transmission technologies SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) and WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplex) used in telecommunication networks and functional principles of the transmission and switching systems used in ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) and ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks. The main subjects are physical media parameters, access and backbone transmission technology, optical transmission systems.

3. Multiplexing methods, PDH and SDH transmission systems

4. Optical transmission systems - DWDM

5. Backbone and access networks, data links, data interfaces

6. OSI Reference model, protocols architecture

7. ISDN networks

8. ATM networks

9. Physical media parameters, digital signal regeneration

10. Copper pairs, crosstalk, information capacity

11. Modulation methods, modems

12. xDSL systems, aplications

13. Optical access networks, hybrid networks, CATV

14. Wireless systems, mobile networks
