- Synopsis:

Students will obtain the basic knowledge in a fundamental functional principles of the telecommunication systems, the digital transmission systems and signal processing theory. The main subjects are physical media parameters, access and backbone network technology, for example PDH (Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy), SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode), xDSL (Digital Subscribe Line) and ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network).

Conditions to obtain the credit: 100% presence at the practices, elaboration and presentation of student's project, elaboration of laboratory tasks.

11. Digital exchange systems, switching networks type S and T.
12. Optical access networks, hybrid networks, CATV.
13. Mobile and satellite systems.

By completing the course the student obtains a general overview of the telecommunications systems including the principles and functions of digital telecommunications systems, both transmission and switching systems, ensuring voice and data services using copper, fiber and wireless transmission media.
