Synopsis:

This is a basic physics course for students of the study programmes Civil Engineering; Management and Economics in Construction. The course focuses on mechanics and basic thermodynamics. The following areas are covered in the course: Mechanics of material points (particles) and deformable bodies. Discrete and continuous model of matter. Kinematics and dynamics of a material point (particle). Mechanical force fields. Gravitational field. Mechanical vibrations. Material deformation. Elastic waves. Acoustics. Hydromechanics. Fundamentals of thermodynamics. Heat transfer.

Requirements:

A prerequisite for participation in the exam is obtaining credit in 102FYI.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction to physics. A mathematics recapitulation necessary for the study of a basic physics course.

2. Kinematics of a material point (particle).

3. Dynamics of a material point (particle).

4. Force fields in mechanics. Gravitational field.

5 -6. Mechanical oscillations

7-8. Deformation of solids.

9 -10. Fluid mechanics.

10 - 11. Mechanical waves

12-13. Basics of thermodynamics and heat transfer.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Kinematics of a material point (particle).

3. Force fields in mechanics + Gravitational fields.

4. Mechanical vibrations .

5. Fluid Mechanics + Waves .

7. Final test

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of the basics of classical mechanics and thermodynamics.
