The course is aimed at deepening the knowledge from the basic study of foundry technology. It focuses mainly on the following topics: additive technologies in foundry technology, melting of special castings and the influence of factors on the structure and their properties, electroslag and vacuum remelting of steels, metallurgy of special alloys of non-ferrous metals.

Attendance at tutorials (any non-attendance must be duly excused and documented by appropriate confirmation).
100% participation in field trips. Presentation of the assigned topic of approximately 10 min.

1. Introduction to new technologies
2.Technological equipment of foundries
3.Additive technologies in the production of model equipment and moulds and cores, mould machining
4.Methods of melt quality control, effect of melt quality on casting defects, metallurgy of special castings
5.Special metallurgy of steels - electroslag and vacuum remelting
6.Metallurgy of special aluminium alloys
7.Metallurgy of other non-ferrous alloys (Mg, Co, Ni)
8. Forming compounds, binders and their testing
9.Technology of casting on a meltable model
10.Die casting and centrifugal casting
11. Simulation of foundry processes

The basis of the exercise
1. Introduction, organizational issues, assignment of presentation topics
2.Smelting - metallurgical processing of cast iron, including thermal analysis
3.Melt - metallurgical processing of Al alloys, including thermal analysis
4.Metallographic and spectrographic evaluation of melts
5.Casting simulation
6. Excursion (OETINGER CZ, Velvary - production of secondary ingots for foundries)
