Synopsis:

The course introduces students to the fundamentals of Six Sigma methodology and Lean thinking. It touches on historical background, main ideas, and actual tools of process optimization and management. Students will get acquainted with measurement and analysis methods (MSA, process capability, SPC, FMEA, control charts, hypothesis testing), applicable to corporate practice and related areas

Requirements:

Basic knowledge of statistics and probability. Active participation in lectures and seminars. Completion of assigned tasks and final test.

Syllabus of lectures:

Introduction to Six Sigma, history of Six Sigma

Production systems implementing Six Sigma

Process characterization, exploration, and response modeling

Define and Measure phases, Measurement System Analysis (MSA)

Process control concepts and options

Process monitoring variable control charts for individual measurements

Process monitoring variable control charts for grouped measurements

Process adjustment introduction to automatic process control

Process improvement questioning perspectives

Process improvement analysis and implementation perspectives

Analysing data: designed experiments (DOE)

Project management using DMAIC and DMADV models
