Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to gain a basic overview of telemedicine, the use of sensor networks for the collection and transmission of telemedicine data. Variant solutions according to the purpose of applications will be discussed. In practical projects, students will test their own solution designs.

Requirements:

Form of verification of study results: oral examination.

As a standard, the course is taught in contact form and the course has lectures and exercises. In case the number of students is less than 5, the teaching can take place in the form of guided self-study with regular consultations. In this case, in addition to the examination, the student is required to produce a written study on the assigned topic.

For combined study:

Teaching takes the form of guided self-study with regular consultations. In addition to the examination, the student is required to prepare a written study on a given topic.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Overview of hardware and software tools for telemedicine, importance and application of telemedicine systems in the legislative environment of the Czech Republic and the EU.

2. Computer science, computer architecture, input/output devices, overview of operating systems, computer networks - practical application

3. Telemedicine data standards, HL7, interoperability.

4. Personal health monitoring systems I.; practical demonstration of local biotelemetry - monitoring ECG, breathing, activity, myopotentials, body temperature etc. synchronous and asynchronous telemedicine - basic concepts.

5. Personal health monitoring systems II - home monitoring of patients: demonstration of the functioning of a monitoring system for the elderly, home telemonitoring of glucose

6. Telemonitoring of patients during rehabilitation, use of virtual reality.

7. Biotelemetry - basic concepts, synchronous and asynchronous telemedicine, DICOM standards, PACS

8. Telemonitoring of biomedical data - ECG, blood pressure, temperature, physical activity, glucose.

9. Personal surveillance systems for remote on-line monitoring.

10. Professional monitoring, monitoring of members of the IZS - examples of systems.

11. Home surveillance systems and sensor networks - monitoring of the elderly, cardiac and diabetic patients.

12. ECG telemonitoring, telemonitoring of patients with pacemakers with built-in defibrillator. Robotic surgery.

13. Professional telemonitoring of soldiers and members of the Emergency Service, especially firefighters. Training and intervention support. Assignment of an independent seminar work.

14. Presentation and classification of seminar papers, evaluation.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Exercises will be solved in the form of practical projects in which students will verify the knowledge acquired in lectures.
