Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to familiarize PhD students with the specifics of academic English in terms of semantic, lexical and syntactic aspects, along with practicing the given skills and expanding the professional vocabulary.

Emphasis is placed on the refinement of expressive skills, both written and oral. The course also covers the preparation of presentations and professional articles.

Requirements:

The examination is written and oral. The written part must be completed to at least 50%. The oral part consists of a debate on a scientific/technical topic. Other requirements in the semester are a maximum of 3 absences per semester and giving a presentation on a scientific/technical topic in class. In accordance with the Regulations for Doctoral Studies, the course examination may be replaced by a recognised certificate of completion of the English language examination. The English language examination may be replaced by the student submitting a written study to discuss and debate the dissertation in English.

For combined study:

Teaching takes the form of guided self-study with regular consultations.
