- Synopsis:
-
The course focuses on familiarizing students with selected biological and medical terms in the field of basic physiology and, above all, pathological conditions of selected organ systems, which are necessary for understanding pathological processes and changes in the organism. The teaching follows modern pedagogical trends based on the direct link between the morphology and function of individual systems. Students thus gain a comprehensive view of the issues necessary for a basic understanding of the topic.
- Requirements:
-
The exam is oral, preceded by a test with immediate evaluation. The minimum percentage of points required to pass the test is 60%.
The student then proceeds to the oral examination. The student is asked questions from the field of physiology and pathophysiology of selected organ systems.
During the exam, the examiner may ask any question within the scope of the required literature and material covered in lectures.
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1. Physiology and pathophysiology of blood
2. Immune system
3. Inflammation anatomical and clinical signs. Acute and chronic inflammation. Etiological pathology. Infectious diseases
4. Physiology and pathophysiology of the circulatory and respiratory systems
5. Physiology and selected pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract. Digestion and metabolism
6. Principles of healthy eating. Dietetics of selected conditions
7. Physiology of the nervous system and selected pathologies
8. Physiology of the senses
9. Reflexes
10. Physiology and pathophysiology of the excretory system and skin

The subject does not have exercises.
- Study Objective:
-
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with selected biological and medical terms, the basics of physiology, and, above all, the pathological conditions of selected organ systems necessary for understanding pathological processes and changes in the organism. Students should gain an overview of human physiology and pathophysiology, which is a prerequisite for understanding functional relationships and a basis for future professional orientation in the biomedical environment.
