Synopsis:

GISE is a set of lectures describing the basic terms, principles, models and tools for using geographic information systems for various applications and purposes. Systems using vector and raster data are explained.

Requirements:

Syllabus of lectures:

1. GIS definition, brief history, basic applications

2. Vector data, raster data

3. Geometric information, classes, attributes, data types

4. Dimensions – spatial, topologic, temporal, attribute, graphic,

5. Vector modelling and raster modelling

6. Analytic functions in vector and raster GIS

7. Digital Terrain Model

8. Geomorphometry

9. Geospatial Analysis and modelling – global statistics, map algebra

10. Geospatial Analysis and modelling - spatial interpolation and approximation

11. Geospatial Analysis and modelling – raster map buffers, cost surface, least cost path cumulative cost surface

12. Interpolation

13. Interpolations - geostatistics

1. Introduction to ArcGIS,

2. Data formats, geodatabases

3. Vector data, attribute queries

4. Vector data, spatial queries

5. Vector data, spatial functions

6. Raster data, mosaic dataset, coordinate connection

7. Working with external data (XLS, CSV), coordinate connection of vector data

8. Creating own geodatabase, vectorization

9. Web map services (WMS, WFS, WCS), GIS connections

10. ArcGIS Online

11. Public administration data (WMS, INSPIRE, VFK), open data (OSM, VFR)

12. Credit test

Study Objective:

The student will be able to understand the philosophy and possibilities of translating the real world into a digital environment.
