Department of Hydraulics and Hydrology
Synopsis:

The course is oriented mainly on the study of precipitation-runoff genesis in a catchment and related water phenomena at the Earth. In the focus of this subject are environmental impacts of development activities with a special focus of water management in catchment and lakes.

Requirements:

No prerequisities required.

Syllabus of lectures:

Precipitation- runoff genesis in a catchment, watershed management and ecosystem services, water resources recharge, runoff timing and extreme events (floods and draughts), analysis of environmental impacts of the development activities with a special focus on watershed management.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Estimating the water balance components, analysis of water resource recharge, flood and draught design, methods of estimating risks by EIA and SEA procedures. Analysis of ecological stability in catchments, and impacts of man's activities including the global climate change impacts.

Study Objective:

The aim of this course is the recognition of water phenomena at the Earth, namely, the analysis of precipitation-runoff genesis in a catchment.
