Methods of materials analysis with a focus on structural, phase, texture and analysis of lattice defects and determination of residual stresses (X-ray and electron diffractography). Imaging methods: light and electron microscopy (sample preparation and imaging characteristics, contrast theory). Advanced imaging methods and chemical microanalysis: scanning electron microscopy.
- Syllabus of lectures:
•Advanced imaging and diffraction methods I - scanning electron microscopy,
•Advanced imaging and diffraction methods II - transmission electron microscopy and diffraction
•X-ray diffraction). High-energy and low-energy electron diffraction.
•Determination of texture
•Atomic force microscopy
•Combined physical methods of microanalysis of chemical composition (wave and energy dispersion).
•Selected problems of thermal analysis, calorimetry and internal friction.
•Special methods for polymer materials (solution and spectroscopic methods, mechanical spectrometry).
•Anlyses of mechanical and chemical properties of coatings (thickness, adhesion, corrosion)
•Surface analyses (structure, roughness, surface energy)
•Tribological properties of materials
•Selected optical methods (IR, GDOS, Raman spectroscopy)
