The aim of the lectures is to extend the engineering knowledge about design matters used in fine mechanics, optics, and medical applications, its properties, advantages and usability limits.

• Material selection rules regarding the optimization physical, mechanical, and thermomechanical properties
• proton number, el. conductivity, Young modulus, anisotropy, thermal exp. coef., ….
• with respect to working environment (bio tolerance, vacuum, aggressive gases, corrosion effects, vibration, …)
• with respect of economy effects (price, lifetime, maintenance fees, machinability, ...).
