Synopsis:

Dividing and detailed description of welding, soldering, brazing and heat cutting methods - conventional and special, designation of methods according to valid EN and ASM standards. Theory of electric arc. Welding sources for arc and resistance welding. Fundamentals of weldability of metallic materials. Applications and use of welding technologies. Assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of individual methods of joining and heat cutting. Draft suitable joining methods for specific applications.

•General introduction to welding technology - terminology (EN ISO 6947, ISO 17 659), history, division of welding methods and their designation (EN ISO 4063)

•Description of the principle of individual methods of welding and heat cutting, advantages and disadvantages, equipment, use and applications:

•Oxy gas welding and related processes (OGW)

•Manual metal arc welding with coated electrodes (MMA)

•Semiautomatic welding with metal inert and active gas (MIG / MAG), and flux cored arc welding (FCAW)

•Welding with non-reversible tungsten inert gas (WIG / TIG)

•Submarged arc welding(SAW)

o resistance welding (spot, seam, projection, butt welding)

o Other welding processes

o Basic methods of soldering and brazing - comparison with welding methods

•Thermal cutting methods (oxygen, plasma and laser cutting)

o Thermal spraying and overlay welding methods

•Power sources for arc and resistance welding

o Deformation and tension during welding - causes of origin, ways of elimination
