The course concerns in detail energy utilization of wooden and non-wooden biomass. Discussed are detailed properties of biomass as a fuel and effect of biomass origin on these properties. Next part is dedicated to technologies of thermochemical conversion of biomass, biomass as a source of liquid fuels and technology of biogas production. General topics of the course are following:
•Biomass in the context of energy mix of the Czech republic
•Biomass-characteristics. specifications, general properties, biomass formation
•Biomass as a fuel
•Thermochemical processes: combustion
•Thermochemical processes: gasification
•Thermochemical processes: pyrolysis
•Liquid fuels: vegetable oils
•Liquid fuels: ethanol
