Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to provide students with basic information about thermophysical properties of the most

commonly used fluids in engineering practice. Lectures acquaint students with thermophysical properties of substances whose knowledge is necessary for optimal design of engineering structures. They will present: Fundamentals of applied thermodynamics - intermolecular forces, theory of corresponding states, critical quantities, state behavior of fluids, thermodynamic functions. Transport properties - viscosity, thermal conductivity, diffusion coefficient and other fluid properties. Basics of simulation methods (Monte Carlo method and Molecular Dynamics method) and application of simulation methods. Use of computer networks to search for reliable thermophysical data. (Lectures of 30 hours).

Course provides guidelines to build up necessary knowledge about thermophysical properties of the most frequent and important engineering materials

Advance Engineering Thermodynamics is lectured

Thermodynamics and transport properties are classified

Basic of simulation methods are introduced (Monte Carlo, Molecular dynamics methods)

General databases of the thermophysical properties (commercial and self-built) are introduced and their inclusion and implementation in to design software is outlined
