Traffic Microsimulation

The course is not on the list Without time-table
Code Completion Credits Range
14TMS Z
Garant předmětu:
Lecturer:
Tutor:
Supervisor:
Department of Applied Informatics in Transportation
Synopsis:

Basic knowledge of traffic modeling and simulation will be broaded by the application of traffic control algorithms to traffic microsimulation models used in ITS. These include, for example, the proposal of algorithms for actuated signal control, pedestrian preference, dynamic network routing, road line traffic control, crossing security equipment, and PT preference. Algorithms will be designed, applied, and tested by students themselves.

Requirements:

basic computer skills, basics of transportation engineering, basics of algorithmization

Syllabus of lectures:
Syllabus of tutorials:

- Introduction to traffic simulations

- Traffic analysis tools

- The procedure of the design traffic microsimulation models

- Introduction to the specific microsimulation software

- Control systems in microsimulation model

- Obtaining (online) data from a microsimulation model

- Proposal of simplified Road Line Traffic Control (RLTC)

- Proposal of dynamic traffic signal control system (pedestrians)

- Proposal of dynamic traffic signal control system (vehicles)

- Proposal of public transport preference

- Seminar work

Study Objective:

Extending the competencies of students in the field of traffic modeling and simulation. Traffic microsimulation models will be extended by the traffic control algorithms used in intelligent transport systems.

Study materials:

- Fundamentals of Traffic Simulation, Barceló, Jaume (Ed.), Springer New York, 2010, ISBN 9781441961419

- Guidelines for Applying Traffic Microsimulation Modeling Software, California Department of Transportation, Dowling Associates, Inc., 2002

- Manual PTV Vissim - Multimodal Traffic Simulation Software
