- Synopsis:

The course gives a brief overview of the main principles and procedures of providing emergency first aid with special attention to the procedures for failure of basic vital functions and life threatening situations. The subject also includes situations of mass casualty of victims in crisis situations and emergencies, including the phenomenon of CBRN.
- Requirements:
-
1. 90% attendance at seminars (long-term absence is solved individually with course guarantor);
2. elaboration of seminar work;
3. demonstration of practical skills acquired during practical training in exercises (1/3 grade of credit);
4. passing multiple choice test with at least 70% (2/3 grade of credit)
Measures against the reduction of study failure: the possibility of individual consultation of the discussed issues and practical training.
- Syllabus of lectures:

1. Basic emergency resuscitation - basic vital functions, their disorders; calling for professional assistance; procedure after the arrival of professional assistance, emergency resuscitation of children; use of an automated external defibrillator. Use of technical aids by laymen in providing first aid.
2. Shock - types of shock, anti-shock measures. Accident emergency states.
3. Bleeding (arterial, venous, capillary; external, internal), hemostasis. Bandages, dressers and dressing techniques.
4. Thermal trauma, electric shock, chemical trauma.
5. Non-traumatic urgent conditions - asthma attack, severe allergic reaction, acute cardiac failure.
6. Intoxication. Technical first aid. Procedure in a traffic accident. Communication with medical operations center. Use of software in smartphones in first aid.
7. Procedure for multiple wounded, CBRN, transport technology. Evacuation.
- Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Basic emergency resuscitation training - examination of an unconscious patient, control of vital signs, airway patency, monitoring of the patient's condition, recording information.
2. Basic emergency resuscitation training - CPR by one and two rescuers in adults and children. Automated external defibrillator, external defibrillation. Use of technical aids by laymen in providing first aid.
3. Exercise training in sudden non-traumatic disorders of consciousness (vasovagal collapse, arrhythmia, acute states of diabetes mellitus - hypo- / hyperglycemia, seizures - epilepsy, febrile convulsions; intoxication).
4. Dressing materials; dressing techniques. Urgent help in acute bleeding, use of throttle.
5. First aid training for locomotive system injuries - sprain, dislocation, fractures (open and closed), fixation, manipulation with the affected person.
6. Training of recovery position, shock measures and necessary improvised transport. Use of improvised protective equipment.
7. Practical CPR performance.
