Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to introduce to students the basics of information technology and telemedicine at the level of a more professional user. The student will gain a sufficient comprehensive overview of the use of information technology in medicine and telemedicine, and specifically in the field of optics and optometry. Emphasis is placed on a general overview and knowledge of the principles and mechanisms, so that the student has a clear idea of ​​the possibilities and risks associated with the use of computer technology in medicine. Based on the acquired knowledge, the student should be able to choose appropriate hardware and software solutions according to the requirements of applications, he/she should have a basic awareness of security in IT. The student should get a good basis for the use of information technology.

Requirements:

Requirements for successful passing the course:

1. Elaboration of a seminar work on a chosen topic from the course. The student can get a maximum of 40 points for the work.

2. Passing the final test. Max. number of points 60. The test is composed of the material covered in lectures.

1. Hardware architecture, input and output devices, communication

2. Operating system, basic structure. Application software

3. IT security, basic requirements and principles

4. Data and metadata, information, knowledge

5. Good practice in working with data, backup, document sharing, secure data transfer

6. Information systems, databases

7. Office supplies: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

8. Electronic information sources

9. Search and metasearch services. Credibility of information on the Internet

10. Data collection from devices, data transfer to a computer, data formats, data compression - lossy and lossless

11. National eHealth strategy

12. Telemedicine, basic principles and functions

13. Telemedicine in ophthalmology, examples of solutions

14. Selective topic
