- Synopsis:
-
The subject of ecotoxicology of building materials is focused on current issues of environmental protection. Students will get to know the concept of ecotoxicity not only from a theoretical point of view (basic concepts, ecotoxicity tests, model organisms, effects of building materials and chemicals used in construction on organisms, statistical evaluation of data, REACH legislation, LCA studies), but also practically in laboratory exercises ( demonstration of laboratory tests, biodegradation tests, microscopy). The course will begin with a theoretical lesson, followed by an exercise in which students will test the given sample or they can bring their own sample. The laboratory exercises will be followed by another theoretical lesson, during which the students will learn how to evaluate the measured data and what the obtained data can be used for in practice.
