Synopsis:

The objective of this subject is to get the student acquainted with emergency medicine.

The subject focuses on diagnostics, primary urgent treatment and management of of life-threatening emergencies, especially medical and traumatic emergencies, management of which starts with pre-hospital urgent care directly at the place of occurrence, further continues with the transport and passes over into the hospital emergency care.

Emeregency Medicine III is focused on crucial principles of emergency trauma care for both adult and paediatric patient, from the perspective of general rules of trauma patient care, as well as concrete management of patient with trauma of particular body segment, polytrauma, as part of mass casualty incident, or with trauma due to CBRNE risks.

Requirements:

Prerequisites for awarding the credit:

. MANDATORY !! presence at lectures - 80% presence (further absence must be compensated by essay on missed topics, as per agreement with the lecturer)

. 100% presence at tutorials. Absence will be compensated by alternative date per teacher`s availability. Potential for absence substitution is conditional to completion of circulatory differential diagnostics test.

. active attitude during case-report workshop

. preparation to intro tests

. successful completion of credit test (multi-choice test, minimum of 60% of correct answers)

Study Objective:

Study objective is to acquaint the students with the emergency trauma care, including battle induced trauma and trauma due to CBRNE.

Students will acquire the knowledge of principles of trauma primary survey xABCDE and management of life-threatening conditions of traumatic origin, of polytrauma patient care, of trauma patient care in mass casualty incident or crisis situation.
