- Martina Turchichová
- Tutor:
- Kateřina Dunovská, Anna Ludvíková, Martina Turchichová
- Supervisor:
- Department of Biomedical Technology
- Synopsis:
-
The student will become familiar with the basic areas of Biochemistry and understand the interrelationships between these areas. The learner will be able to navigate biochemical concepts especially in the context of clinical biochemistry. The student will learn to work in the laboratory according to good laboratory practice, learn the specifics of working with biological material and acquire good work habits. He/she will be able to process, interpret and discuss the results correctly.
- Requirements:
-
Credit requirements:
Required attendance at classes and labs, absences must be properly excused and made up. Successful completion of the lab entry tests (minimum 60% score) and completion of all lab assignments. Submission of completed reports by the due date. A maximum of two lab exercises may be substituted.
Course and evaluation of the examination:
The examination has a written and an oral part. The test covers the content of all topics covered in the lectures and exercises. The weighting of the questions varies according to their difficulty. To pass the written part of the examination, a minimum of 50% of the marks must be obtained. Successful completion of the test is followed by an oral examination. If the result of any part is graded F, the result of the examination is automatically F.

- Study Objective:
-
Students will learn the basic areas of Biochemistry and expand their knowledge of the chemistry of living systems. The course progresses through the basic structures of biological systems (amino acids, peptides, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, nucleic acids), biological membranes and molecular genetics to the most important metabolic processes.
Particular attention is then paid to aspects necessary for understanding the methods of working in the biochemical and clinical laboratory, which are part of the set of competencies of a biomedical technician. The laboratories are aimed at practical practice of the acquired theoretical knowledge. Students will learn the basic laboratory techniques of Biochemistry.
