The course focuses on the field of monument care in the context of the whole-world and provides a basic orientation in the theory and practice of this issue with an emphasis on the protection of building heritage and methods of its restoration. Preservation of monuments includes the necessary overview of the institutional structure as well as the need for orientation in legal and regulations aimed at the protection of cultural heritage at national and international level. Part of the course is to acquire the principles of care for the heritage fund, to analyze the types of modifications of the historical building in relation to its value potential. The course will also present up-to-date knowledge in the field of cognition of the historical building stock (traditional and innovative approaches, techniques and technologies), complement information on international events in the field and adopted international conventions and conventions.
The course is divided into four thematic parts (history of monument care, monument care in the Czech Republic, monument care in the international context, care for the building fund) combining lectures (theoretical background), seminars and excursions (or workshops) into monument buildings representing a specific form of restoration of monuments (conservation, restoration, reconstruction, transformation, etc.)
During the semester the seminar paper will be consulted.
