Synopsis:

The course is intended as an introductory course in the field of aircraft technology for bachelor students. The course serves as a theoretical support of the project and bachelor thesis in the field of aircraft technology aimed at aircraft structures, engines and space. The first block is focused on obtaining an overview of aircraft structures and their operating loads, aircraft materials, production technologies and aircraft systems. The second block introduces the basics of aerodynamics. The follow-up enginer section deals with the principles and types of aircraft propulsion units. The space section presents input information inthe field of space technology.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Classification of aircraft, their basic parts. Structure of wings and load transmission.

2. Manoeuvre and gust load factor, load factor envelope.

3. Lift devices and control surfaces.

4. Aircraft systems.

5. Aircraft materials.

6. Aerospace manufacturing technology.

7. Introduction to aeronautical aerodynamics.

8. Experimental aerodynamics.

9. Aircraft propulsion.

10. Aircraft propellers.

11. Space and astrodynamics.

12. Technical solution for space applications.

13. Strength tests of aircraft structures.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Load cases. Load transfer. Limit and ultimate loads.

2. Manoeuvre and gust load factor.

3. Design of the load envelope.

4. Undercarriages and shock absorbers.

5. Examples of applications of metal and composite materials.

6. Joining composite structures.

7. Airfoils.

8. Measurement of speed and pressure.

9. Propulsion and power unit efficiency.

10. Aerodynamic characteristics of propellers.

11. Simple cosmic manoeuvres.

12. Structural and operational problems in the space.

13. Strength tests of aircraft structures.

Study Objective:

To get acquainted with the basics of aircraft structures, engines and astronautics for the needs of bachelor projects and bachelor's theses.
