Synopsis:

The basic principles of heat supply for industry and residential areas are described. The basic energy (electrical energy and heat) generating sources and their utilisation are discussed. Heat supply systems and heat exanger stations are discussed – advantages and disadvantages.

•Heat supply in industry - an introduction.

•Cogeneration versus separate generation of heat and elektricity - basic principles, effectivity, primary energy utilisation.

•Energy consumption ballance diagrams and their utilisation.

•Heating plants, boiler construction for heating plants.

•Power and heating plants (Rankin cycle), boiler construction/turbine construction for power and heating plants.

•Power and heating plants (Erricson/Brayton cycle), gas turbines, gas combustion engines.

•Heat sources with heat pumps.

•Heat supply distribution lines, heat supply - steam or hot water lines - advantages/disadvantages, pressure distribution diagram for hot water heat supply systems.

•Basic design of the pipelines - diameter and wall thickness.

•Heat loss calculation for heat supply lines/pipes. Thermal insulation.

•Thermal expansion - pipeline, pipeline support and its design, thermal expansion sleeves - basic types.

•Heat Exchange Stations - basic principles and configuration.

•Power and heating plants and distribution lines - heat supply and energy supply control.

•Energy and heat supply - the future, perspectives and development.
