Garant předmětu:
Lecturer:
Tutor:
Supervisor:
Department of Biomedical Technology
Synopsis:

The course provides with basic and applied information on the genesis of the ECG, VCG, electric volume conduction, forward and inverse problem in electrocardiology eventually also on mechanical heart modeling (CircAdapt).

Requirements:

In the case of foreign lecturers, there will be a weeklong block of intensive contact education for the number of students at least five. If the number of students is less than five, the course will be self-study with consultations using VoIP (e.g. Skype) and a contact 1-or 2-day seminar. The contact seminar will take place at the FBMI or at the home institution of a foreign lecturer. The subjects are concluded by an oral examination. The student must elaborate a paper on a given topic together with the exam in case of the controlled self-study.

Two laboratory exercises are required for admission to the exam (attested by a protocol signed by the student, the tutor and the supervisor of the course).

The protocols will be archived in the Department for Doctoral Studies.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Electrical functioning of the heart: Clinical Aspects

2. Electrical functioning of the heart: electro-physiology

3. The ECG: signal analysis

4. Electrical functioning of the heart: Modeling I (source models)

5. Electrical functioning of the heart: Modeling II (volume conduction)

6. Electrical functioning of the heart: Modeling III (specific disease modeling, ACM)

7. ECGsim

8. The inverse problem in electrocardiography I

9. The inverse problem in electrocardiography II

10. SciRun, solving an inverse problem.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Simulation of the ECG.

2. Inverse problem solving. Datasets will be available to solve the inverse problem suing SCirun. Base on these work an end report needs to be created.

Study Objective:

The course provides with basic and applied information on the genesis of the ECG, VCG, electric volume conduction, forward and inverse problem in electrocardiology eventually also on mechanical heart modeling (CircAdapt).
