Department of Environmental Engineering
Synopsis:

Overview and application of software tools in HVAC engineering.

Requirements:

Basics of heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation, basics of indoor environment enginering.

Syllabus of lectures:

Simulation of solar irradiation and shading, contamionant spread in air, light and visual comfort; integrated simulation tools, ESP-r; databases, model geometry, wall attributes, boundary conditions, simulation, results analysis, verification and validation.

Syllabus of tutorials:

The practical part of the course deals with the use of ESP-r software. Students will learn the basic skills from defining model geometry, wall attributes and boundary condtions to analysing simulation results.

Study Objective:

The aim is a) to get an overview of software tools for simulations of buildings and HVAC systems,

b) to learn how to use the ESP-r software in support for the design and assessment of HVAC systems and thermal comfort in buildings.
