Synopsis:

GIS 2 is focused on a wide range of advanced analyses in the raster GIS using map algebra, on interpolation and extrapolation in 2D and 3D, on statistical data description, geostatistics and graph theory for optimisation tasks of network analysis.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. GeoWeb, Web 3.0, standards, terminology

2. Map algebra, global, local, zonal, focal statistics, NULL data

3. Reclassification, distance measurement, buffers in raster data, cost surface, low cost path

4 Parameters of DTM, curvature, temporal development of DTM

5. 2D interpolation and extrapolation

6. Voronoi polygons, Delauney triangles, 3D local spatial interpolation, IDW

7. Local point selection, RDF, contour lines, geostatistics - semivariograms

8. Empiric and theoretical semivariogram, kriging, examples, spline interpolation

9. Analytical geometry for GIS

10. Statistical description of point spatial data

11. Exploratory data analysis, Q-Q graph, outliers

12. Statistical description of line and area spatial data

13. Introduction and application of graphs for network analysis and optimisation

9. Scripting introduction in Python (pyGRASS), Geoprocessing, WPS

10. Advanced functions of Model Builder, data and process publicising

13 Closing of the subject

Study Objective:

To understand advanced methods of geospatial analysis of spatial data of all geometry types both in vector and raster data including network analysis.
