Synopsis:

Steel structures - pros and contras, material properties, fabrication, connections, industrial steel buildings, cables, high strength steel, buildings in terms of water engineering - load, protection, utilization.

Timber - loadings, material propertie, limit states methodology, design, connections, bracings, protection of structural timber, timber bridges.

Requirements:

No prerequisities.

Industrial hall strucutes, design, bracings

Multi-storey buildings

Cables, prestress structures

High strength steel

Connections of steel structures

Timber:

Material properties

Methods of design, compression, tension, bending

Combination of loadings, connections

Truss and solid girders, frame structures

Steel:

1. Design of the industrial hall - position of the load bearing elements, bracings

2. Desing of the roof structure and purlins

3.Main truss beam design

4. Main column

5. Bracing, wind load, evaluation

6. drawings

Timber:

1. Compressed column design

2. Truss beam design

3. Solid beam design

4. Floor structure of the residential building

5. Design of the column aimed on the fire safety

Study Objective:

Recognition of basic facts about steel and timber structure. Incresing of knowledge about basic elementary design of simple elements.
