Department of Nuclear Chemistry
Synopsis:

The lecture is focused on radiation-chemical aspects of industrial and agricultural applications. The first area specifically deals with radiation-chemical issues in nuclear engineering, preparation, modification and use of polymers in technical practice, or interaction of semiconductor materials with ionizing radiation. The second of the mentioned areas focuses on radiation-induced mutations of plants, radiation treatment of food and their diagnostics. In a certain sense, both areas are related to the issue of radiation cleaning of exhalation gases and industrial or municipal waste.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. General aspects of applied radiation chemistry.

2. The effect of radiation on water, aqueous solutions and other systems.

3. Applications of radiation-grafted and cross-linked polymers in technical practice.

4. Radiation effects in semiconductor materials and their resistance to ionizing radiation.

5. Radiation-induced mutations of plants and their genetic breeding.

6. Food irradiation, their sterilization and insecticidal treatment.

7. Radiation technologies for food and agricultural products.

8. Imaging methods in agricultural product research

9. General aspects of radiation removal of exhalate gases and pollutants.

10. Radiation dechlorination.

11. Radiation desulfurization and denitrification.

12. Radiation treatment of wastewater.

13. Radiation treatment of sludge.
