The course introduces students to the basics of creating 3D models of structures in water management for the creation of design documentation and for the preparation of geometry for water flow and static problems. Attention is also focused on the principles of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its relevance to the design of structures and their operation throughout their life cycle. In this exercise, students will be introduced to the principles of 3D modelling in AUTOCAD 3D on specific water management problems including communication with GIS tools and linkage to hydraulic and hydrological modules (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).


1. Active participation in seminars

2. Processing and submission of correctly and completely solved problems.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Fundamentals of building information modelling. Legislation. Process of implementation of BIM tools for design needs.

2. Autocad 3D, basics of 3D modelling.

3. Autocad 3D - Part 2, example of a specific VH model of a building.

4. Preparing geometry using Autocad 3D for Ansys CFX, Ansys Fluent

5. Example of a BIM project.

6. GIS

7. Geometry preparation using ArcGIS and GeoRAS for 1D Hec-RAS and for 2D Hec-RAS.

Study Objective:

The aim of the study is to learn the basics of the technology of information modelling of buildings and its use in water management.
