The subject aims to acquaint the PhD students with the specifics of academic English from the point of view of semantics, lexicology and syntax along with practising the skills and expansion of vocabulary. The emphasis is placed on the accuracy of written and oral communication skills. The course also focuses on the elaboration of presentations and articles.
- Requirements:

The exam is written. The written part must be completed to at least 70%. The Academic Vocabulary in Use textbook is used in class - the chapters covered are in the schedule. The test is based on the textbook. Under the Regulations for Doctoral Studies, the course examination may be replaced by a recognised certificate of completion of the English language examination - level C1. The English language examination may be replaced by the student writing a written paper to discuss the dissertation and debating it in English before the committee.
