Synopsis:

The course is focused on detailed introduction to the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) for the automation and control of production machines and equipment. The student in the course theoretically and practically acquainted with the basic PLC structure and its interconnection with CNC control, basic algorithms, programming the PLC in accordance with IEC and designing of basic user environment. A successful completion of the course is to create student?s own PLC project to control a real model of production machine or manipulator (using Siemens Simatic S7-1500 and TIA Portal environment).

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1.PLC overview - what the PLC is, the difference between the NC, PLC, HMI; overview of the PLC manufacturers, the use of PLCs

2.Basics of algorithmization - how to design the program logic, flow charts, examples of algorithms, standardization of the variables labeling

3.Methods of the PLC programming - part 1 - programming according to IEC - programming unit, program structuring

4.Methods of the PLC programming - part 1 - programming according to IEC 61131-3 - programming languages, PLC tags, addressing etc.

5.Siemens PLC - structure and components of the Siemens Simatic PLC, programming in TIA Portal

Syllabus of tutorials:

1.Fundamentals of Algorithmization

2.Programming according to IEC 61131-3

3.PLC Siemens - practical knowledge of the structure and the components , connection to real system

4.Basic of programming in TIA Portal

5.Proposal of control of real model of production machine or manipulator, interfacing with PLC, algorithmization and flowcharts

6.Presentation of control design, creation of the PLC project in the TIA Portal

7.Working on the PLC project

8.Working on the PLC project

9.Design of visualization, preparation of concise user manual for device control using the previously created PLC project

10.Presentation of the control of production machine model or manipulator, credit

Study Objective:

-Introduction to the basic structure of the PLC for the automation of production machines and equipment

-Learn the basics of algorithms

-Introduction to the programming standard IEC

-Practice to create the PLC project to control a production machine or manipulator
