The course focuses on the use of numerical modelling methods in solving the problem of groundwater flow in a saturated hydrogeological environment.

Requirements:

Completion of compulsory course 143HPVO

Syllabus of lectures:

Numerical methods for solving the governing equations of groundwater flow

The importance of numerical models for solving practical problems

Conceptual model development, software selection

Input data, boundary and initial conditions, model development

Model calibration and verification

Simulation and evaluation of outputs

Syllabus of tutorials:

Individual work in solving a given problem

Study Objective:

Ability to solve a practical problem using appropriate software.
