- Synopsis:
-
This course introduces on the advanced level the physical, electronic, and biological principles of biosensors. Various mechanisms and sensor concepts for specific applications (such as detection of glucose, urea, proteins, cells, bacteria) are explained and discussed in detail. The course also introduces the use of modern nanostructures and nanomaterials in biosensors to achieve reliable and enough sensitive devices for medical diagnostics, food safety, and environmental monitoring. Within the course we also discuss current challenges and future perspectives for various concepts, technologies and applications of biosensors.
- Requirements:
-
There will be a written test and oral exam.
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
Lectures are given as presentations and discussions about the detailed physical, electronic, and biological principles of biosensors, employed materials, as well as their practical applications.
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
Practical work in our renovated laboratories will provide you hands-on experience and understanding how are the biosensors constructed, how they work,
what physical and chemical phenomena they use, how they affect the biosensor function and the resulting data.
