Synopsis:

The course provides a comprehensive view of building the essential aspects of financial management of business processes and projects. Students have the opportunity to understand the main concepts, tools and methods of financial management of processes and projects and their use in decision-making practice. Substantial emphasis is placed on evaluating the financial performance of the company, evaluation and valuation of tangible and financial investment projects, working capital management, methods of financing the company, project financing, methods of financial planning and forecasting, and valuation techniques.

Requirements:

1. Presentation of seminar work on a selected topic

2. Credit test - max 30 points from continuous tests (min 15 points in total)

3. Final test - max 70 points

The Combined form of examination

Written part - at least 50 points from the sum of tests 30 + 70 points

Oral exam after achieving 50 points from the written part

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Financial management of a company, concept, function and structure of corporate finance, financial decision-making in a company

2. Basic economic documents financial statements, balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, cost function, turning point,

3. Financial analysis of the company, basic indicators of financial health-stability, liquidity and performance (prosperity)

4. Sources of financing the company internal, external, alternative and sources from the capital market, balance sheet rules, cost of capital and optimal capital structure

5. Short-term financial management, turnover cycle, working capital, liquidity, cash flow

6. Value and performance of the company Value Based Management, measurement of company performance, cost allocation and profitability, value criteria FCF, EVA, MVA, ROIC, SVA

7. Business finance in international exchange, exchange rate and foreign exchange market, foreign exchange operations and exposures, hedging

8. Long-term financial management of company strategy and financial planning, financial strategies and financial policies of the company, principles of financial planning

9. Investment decision-making in the company preparation, classification, strategy, phases and financing of an investment project

10. Evaluation of investment efficiency static and dynamic methods, time value of money, NPV, IRR, PP, PI

11. Investment risk in the company classification, identification, significance and size of risk, risk decision-making and anti-risk measures, risk diversification, normal distribution

12. Business valuation types, degrees and methods of business valuation, example of DCF

13. Mergers and acquisitions economic substance of mergers, acquisitions, motives, profit and costs, procedure and valuation

14. Final seminar presentation of student projects

1. Tasks of financial management of a company, functions and structure of corporate finances, financial decision making

2. Balance sheet, Income statement, Cash flow, construction of cost function, calculation and graph of turning point,

3. Methods of calculation of financial health-stability, liquidity and performance (prosperity) indicators, creditworthiness, bankruptcy and complex credibility indicators, DuPont decomposition

4. Advantages and disadvantages of internal, external, alternative sources of financing, issues of investment instruments from the capital market, balance sheet rules, calculation of capital costs and methods of capital structure optimization

5. Calculation of the turnover cycle of money, calculation of working capital and liquidity indicators, calculation and planning of cash flow

6. Methods of determining and measuring the value and performance of VBM, methods of cost allocation and profitability assessment, calculation of value criteria FCF, EVA, MVA, ROIC, SVA

7. Direct and indirect exchange rate determination method, foreign exchange market instruments, foreign exchange operations examples, foreign exchange exposure, hedging and exchange rate hedging methods

8. Examples of creating a company's financial strategy, methods and examples of financial planning, types and alternatives for determining and using the company's financial policies

9. Example for investment decision-making in a company - preparation, classification, strategy, phases in terms of financing an investment project

10. Examples of evaluation of investment efficiency, static and dynamic methods, time value of money, calculations of NPV, IRR, PP, PI

11. Example of solution of Investment risk in a company, classification, identification, determination of significance and size of risk, methods of decision-making on risk and anti-risk measures, risk diversification, example of calculation of normal distribution

12. Examples of the procedure for valuing a company by various methods, the example of DCF

13. Mergers and acquisitions microeconomic nature and macroeconomic significance of mergers, acquisitions, motives, profit and costs, process and valuation

14. Final seminar presentation of student projects

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is to understand the basic assumptions of long-term prosperity. After graduation, the student will be able to find out the necessary information in the company, compile a financial plan and further evaluate the investment, or define the conditions under which it can be implemented. He will also be able to predict the impact on future development, including risks, and create a set of measures that should help eliminate unwanted risks.
