Negative impacts of noise and vibration on human. Assessment of varied transport noise Acoustic levels. Noise maps. Noise study. Traffic noise characteristics of different transport means. Propagation of noise. Ways of environment protection before adverse impacts of transport noise (urban, architectural, traffic-organizing, technical).

- Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction to the subject - repetition - the impact of transport on the Environment,, types of noise, basic properties of sound, noise, perception of sound.
2. Noise propagation, emission, immission, attenuation of sound pressure levels
3. Acoustic levels, weight filters, calculation with levels
4. Measurement of noise from the rail traffic, noise prediction, methodological guidelines for calculating noise levels from rail traffic
5. Acoustic study, details of the protocol for measuring sound pressure levels, strategic noise mapping, action plans
6. Prediction software, noise load calculation, inputs
7. Legislation – law, NV + ČSN standards
8. Anti-noise measures 1 – active, passive, anti-noise walls - types, construction, material, cladding, technical, acoustic, aesthetic requirements, examples with pros and cons, SŽ regulations
9. Anti-noise measures 2 – in the track construction, track and rail absorbers, anti-vibration mats, SŽ regulations
10. Acoustic camera and its use - localization of noise sources
11. Excursion - visit to the acoustic room - Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Prague

- Syllabus of tutorials:

Practical exercises: use of sound measuring equipment such as a sound level meter, acoustic camera, also familiarization with the measurement of waviness and roughness of the rail using the Salamander measuring trolley. Work with measured data.
- Study Objective:

Recognition with problems of traffic noise, ways of its valuation and with possibilities of reduction of its negative effects.
