Synopsis:

The course aims to teach student the current state of research and perspectives of protection of industrial heritage (IH) both worldwide and in the Czech Republic.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Lectures will familiarize students with the nature of IH and its prospects, iconic examples of current conversion, the issue of brownfields and interdisciplinarity of the field. The subsequent excursions will help illustrate IH in situ on selected examples of re-use projects in Prague. Seminar work will be comprised of a commented report from students on the selected topics, where they have an opportunity to utilize their knowledge from lectures

Study Objective:

The course aims to teach student the current state of research and perspectives of protection of industrial heritage (IH) both worldwide and in the Czech Republic. The lectures and excursions are focused on transnational protection of IH, activities of the TICCIH organization, the main characteristics of IH, current research issues and selected sites.
