Synopsis:

Prestressed concrete structures, shell structures, prestressed cable structures, shear and torsion, load carrying capacity of bridges, design according to older standards and code provisions

Requirements:

Basic knowledge of structural engineering, structural engineering software and pre-stressed concrete is a prerequisite of delivering the task in the seminar.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Prestressed concrete – principles, design of prestressing

2. Prestressed concrete – losses of prestressing

3. Prestressed concrete – SLS and ULS assessment

4. Prestressed concrete – un-bonded prestressing

5. Prestressed concrete – creep effects

6. Torsion, shear & torsion interaction

7. Slender compressed elements, second order effect

8. Shells and membranes

9. Loading of bridges according to EN 1991-2, Older prestressed concrete design principles

10. Assessment of existing structures

11. Impact of construction sequence on the prestressing layout

12. Prestressed concrete - examples of aplications, heavy lifting, etc.

13. Summary

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Task F (pre-stressed slab) - internal forces

2. Task F - Assessment of losses of prestressing

3. Task F - SLS and ULS check

4. Task U (unbonded prestressing) - ULS check

5. Task F+U consultations

6. Tast T - Shear & torsion interaction assessment

7. Task S - Comparison of the methods of slender compressed elements assessment

8. Task F - Tendon arrangement desing

9. Task F - final consultation & handover

10. Task U - final consultation & handover

11. Task T, Task S - constultations

12. Task T final consultation & handover

13. Task S final consultation & handover
