Synopsis:

Students are introduced into the basic concepts of using information technologies in medical application. They gain basic knowledge of UNIX, X-Windows, networking with TCP-IP protocol, types of storage and back-up of data, network and data security, and how to avoid data misuse. Next, they will be indroduced into the opportunities of achieving, processing, and storing medical images, formats of medical data (DICOM), native medical networks (PACS), and systems of pacient monitoring. Short basic excersises are included.

1.Introduction into information technologies

2.Basic use of computer networks

3. Fundamentals of network architectures , TCP / IP protocol

4. Introduction to Linux

5. Basic concepts of secure communications

6. Principles of Symmetrical and Asymmetric Data Encryption

7. Basic DICOM standard

8. Basic concept PACS

9. Possibility digital image processing

10. Reconstruction of tomographic images

11. Options for storing large data, backup

12. Batch processing jobs

13. Selected Topics in practical medical informatics

Syllabus of tutorials:

Lessons are held in the computer lab with an installed Linux OS . Discussed / lecturer is on selected topics directly demonstrated and practiced . Exercises outline follows the outline of lecture.

To gain basic knowledge and practical skills in the area of IT use in health care.

Skills:

Mastering the basics of selected SW, medical information systems and file formats used in medicine.
