Synopsis:

The course focuses on the development of abstract thinking skills and precise specifications in the form of conceptual models. Students will learn the ability to distinguish key concepts in the domain, categorize and also determine the right links in complex systems of social reality, especially enterprises and institutions. Students will learn the basics of ontological structural modeling in OntoUML notation. They will also learn to express the rules and limitations of everyday reality using the OCL language. Students will also learn the basics of Enterprise Engineering as a discipline enabling conceptual modeling of the structure of enterprises and institutions and their process and learn the DEMO methodology. The course is also designed with regard to the continuity of software implementations.

Requirements:

Prerequisites are not. The subject is closely related to the subjects BI-DBS and BI-SI1.

Recommended elective course: BI-ZPI.

Study Objective:

The subject is focused on developing abstract thinking and precise formulation skills using conceptual models. Students willlearn skills of discerning key terms in a domain, the ability to categorise and specify correct relations in complex systems ofsocial reality, mostly enterprises and institutions. Students will learn basics of ontological structural modelling in the OntoUMLnotation. Next, students will learn how to express business rules and constraints using the OCL language. Students will learn thefoundations of Enterprise Engineering, being a discipline for conceptual modelling of enterprises and institutes and their processes. The DEMO method will be taught. The subject is designed with the respect to continuation in software implementations.
