Garant předmětu:
Lecturer:
Tutor:
Supervisor:
Department of Dosimetry and Application of Ionizing Radiation
Synopsis:

A student obtains a complex review of an important part of applications of ionising radiation and possible practical techniques. It is devoted to use of high doses of ionising radiation for radiation technologies including methods of measurement and dosimetry for these purposes.

Main topics:

From the point of view of measurement, attention is oriented first of all ti ionisation methods, calorimetry, chemical dosimetric methods, radiochromic solutions and plastics, solid state dosemeters for high doses and their callibration.

From the point of view radiation technologies, using physical, as well as chemical and biological effects is discussed. Specific attention is deveted to radiation sterilisation, irradiation of foodstuffs for extending their lifetime and radiation modification of properties of organics, especially polymers. Radiation sources based on radionuclides as well as accelerators for radiation technologies are also described.

Requirements:

Knowledge of nuclear and radiation physics as in the subject Nuclear and radiation physics 1, 2 in the bachelor course.

Syllabus of lectures:

Basic topics:
