Synopsis:

Linear high-voltage accelerators, linear high-frequency accelerators, accelerators based on cyclotron, microtron, betatron, electron and proton synchrotrons, electron and ion sources for accelerators, targets.

Methodology of signal processing from various types of ionizing radiation detectors, spectroscopic systems, measurement of spectra and an overview of other electronics in this type of experimental equipment.

Objectives and content of metrology, interpretation of quantities and units of radiation in metrology, theoretical and experimental bases of metrology (measurement errors, relative and absolute measurements, data processing and evaluation of measurement results, radiation standards and radionuclides), determination of basic radiation quantities (activity, source emission, exposure, absorbed dose), comparative measurements; the law of metrology and the relevant regulations.

Requirements:

Knowledge of basic nuclear physics, dosimery and detection of ionizing radiation.

8. Fundamentals of General Metrology.

9. Introduction to legal metrology, quantities and units, law and decrees, established gauges.

10. Organization of metrological continuity in the Czech Republic, continuity schemes.

11. Calorimetry as an absolute method, dose measurement methods, kerma and exposure, air-free chamber.

12. Standardization of exposure and kerma, air-free chamber, well type chamber.

Study Objective:

Knowledge:

Obtaining the knowledges about the fundamentals and types of accelerators and related problems of radiation protection. An overview of methods of signal processing from ionizing radiation detectors and their use for spectroscopy. Knowledge about the interpretation of quantities and units of ionizing radiation in metrology. Data processing system and evaluation of results including errors and uncertainties.

Skills:

Gaining knowledge about the principles and types of accelerators, with their use and the principles of radiation protection associated with their operation. Be able to work with specroscopic electronics and evaluate measured data. Process and evaluate measured data according to relevant metrology standards. Determine the basic quantities of ionizing radiation.
